New Tech Allows Blind Basketball Fans to Enjoy Portland Trailblazers Games

The Portland Trialblazers have been working harder than a blind person trying to read a basketball (boom-braille joke) to make their games more accessible for all fans!

Of course, not being able to see the game makes it pretty hard to enjoy it. Sure, you can listen to audio broadcasts but that’s not always as immersive.

Well, with a futuristic touch pad, the One Court Tactile Broadcast, blind fans can feel the game as the pad is laid out like a court and tracks all of the game’s action in real-time and also has attached ear buds where folks can get the score at all times, how much time is left, fouls, etc.

Hopefully more teams across multiple leagues adopt this technology!

Portland Trail Blazers offer fans with vision loss a way to experience a live game
@asfvision

I had the joy of welcoming accessibility to the NBA on a new level. #TicketmasterPartner The Portland Trail Blazers teamed up with OneCourt and Ticketmaster to bring a tactile device that uses real time data to allow blind and low vision people to feel the game through their fingertips. This was a life changing experience, and I can’t wait until devices like this are adapted across the board in all sports and events. One step at a time, one court at a time @Ticketmaster @Trail Blazers
